Class on Michelangelo was like stepping back in history. I loved that he didn't use a canned text book, but instead books by Condivi and Vasari, along with Wallace and Hubbard. He provided input from Panofsky and other experts where it was interesting and appropriate. He was the ultimate professional, and I wish all professors were up to his level of excellence in teaching. He was focused, well prepared, and most of all, INTERESTING!! He held my attention always, and I looked forward to going to class. Also, I gained an appreciation and understanding that I have found quite useful in other art history classes. I was also very impressed that he commanded respect in his class, and those that were busy trying to do email in the back corner instead of participating were easily, professionally, and specifically addressed. He is a model professor. I didn't get an A, for me it wasn't the easiest class because of all the memory work - but still, I thought he was awesome. |
